Sydney's Story - Levine Children's Hospital Blanket Drive
Sydney Karre’s Story
Levine Blanket Drive
Hello congregation. My name is Sydney Karre. I am currently a senior at Newton-Conover High School, and during March-April of 2014, I was hospitalized due to serious complications that resulted from an autoimmune disease. While in the hospital, I received a beautiful handmade blanket. In a time plagued with fear and unpredictability, such a tangible token of love and security gave me a fresh sense of hope and optimism; it changed things for me. The fact that a complete stranger would spend so much time making something so beautiful for me really touched my heart and inspired me to do the same for others. Because of this experience, I have organized a blanket drive for the Levine Children’s Hospital, which will be our church’s mission focus for the month of January. For the drive, we will be making 50 blankets to deliver to the oncology/hematology unit and the intensive care unit at the hospital. Details for the two events are listed below. Please come out and join me. I look forward to leading us as we embark on this project!
