Board of Mission & Ministry
The Board of Mission and Ministry is responsible for the special access of Social Ministry and Local and World Mission.
The Board assists the congregation in organizing an effective ministry to the community. Ongoing ministry projects include Eastern Catawba Cooperative Christian Ministry, Pregnancy Care Center and The Corner Table.
Eastern Catawba Cooperative Christian Ministry (ECCM) This organization brings together the resources of the Christian community to serve the people in need of crisis assistance, support and education. Many area churches are members. Each month, our congregation is responsible for providing volunteers to work at ECCCM. Church members are also urged to volunteer at ECCCM anytime they can helping bag food, sort clothes or whatever needs doing.
Pregnancy Care Center (PCC) is an organization that exists to uphold the sanctity of human life by demonstrating the love of Christ to women facing crisis pregnancies through the provision of spiritual, physical and emotional support, and by proclaiming the Gospel to the community-at-large by promoting a Biblical view of sex and marriage through education.
A small crib is kept in the transept area where members can place donated items. A board member transports these items to PCC on a regular basis. Baby Bottles are distributed on Sanctity of Life Sunday. Members fill the bottles with loose change and return them for collection at a later date. Concordia's LWML has a baby shower every Christmas for baby Jesus where all gifts are sent to the PCC.
The Corner Table is a Soup Kitchen outreach ministry provided by the people of the community for the hungry in the community. Their primary purpose is to provide nutritious meals in a comfortable environment for any men, women or children in need. Food left over from various church events is donated to the corner Table. Church Members also make food donations.
